Reprogram 2020 Textiles Collection
My Graduate Collection, London College of Fashion — Textiles, Embroidery

Reprogramming: to write a new set of instructions, or change an existing programme so that a system works differently.

My graduate collection reflects a growing interest in wellbeing, sensory experience and delighting in daily details.

Exploring themes such as our changing relationship with technology and the growing desire to reconnect with ourselves and our surrounding world. The collection questions our dependence on smart devices and social media, exploring the balance between what we need and what we want.

Materials including aluminium infused ribbons and laser cut metal were used to create forms inspired by a Faraday cage, symbolising protection from digital connection and the possibility of disconnecting from technology.

Textile samples were developed from my observation photographs of everyday shadows, and colour palettes collected from outdoor spaces. These observations were translated into texture, colour and surface design, reflecting the importance of slowing down, noticing our surroundings and reconnecting with nature.
