Sashiko style mending is a traditional Japanese form of decorative and functional stitching. The word roughly translates to “little stabs”, referring to the simple running stitches used to strengthen and repair fabric.
At seww_what studios, we take inspiration from this beautiful tradition and use it to give worn clothes a new lease of life. We’re not here to hide the repair - we make a feature of it. Think visible stitches, patches, texture and a little bit of beautiful imperfection.

Darning is the art of repairing worn or holey fabric by weaving new stitches through the damaged area, giving your clothes a second chance instead of sending them to the bin.
We’re not here to hide the hole. We’re here to make something of it. At Seww_what, darning turns damage into detail adding colour, texture and personality while giving your favourite clothes a little more life.

Sometimes a garment doesn’t need a complete makeover , it just needs a little adjustment. We offer simple, thoughtful hemming to help your clothes fit better and stay in your wardrobe for longer.

Got a favourite garment that’s seen better days? Good. We like a bit of history.
Custom visible mending turns rips, holes and worn-out patches into something worth looking at. Using colour, fabric, embroidery and creative stitching, we work with the damage rather than trying to make it disappear.
Every repair is a little different, because every garment has its own story

Lost a button? No worries. Sometimes the smallest repair is all a garment needs to get back into rotation.
We can replace missing or broken buttons and secure loose ones, helping your favourite clothes stay wearable for longer. Where possible, we’ll work with what’s already there, matching buttons, reusing spares or choosing something that feels right for the garment.
